3 Peaks Challenge – Update

Our National 3 Peaks Challenge is almost upon us! The team will be leaving tomorrow morning (3rd June) at 9:00am to head up to Fort William for an overnight stay, this should take us approx. 6 hours. Making sure we don’t get tempted to have a pint on arrival, it will be a quiet night and hopefully an early one.

On Friday (4th June), after a lengthy lie in (!) we will meet up with our guide for Ben Nevis. The weather conditions are still bad on Ben Nevis so the guide will help us to check our equipment and make sure we have everything we need. Once packed, we will head over to the mountain itself and run a couple of final checks. At 5:00pm we will begin the challenge and start climbing Ben Nevis.

If all is well we should be down by 10:00pm and then it’s straight into the minibus and we head south for Scafell Pike. En route, aswell as a few hours sleep, we will prepare our backpacks for the second mountain so we can make a quick exit from the bus and start climbing straight away. This should be around 5:00am and should hopefully take no more than 4 hours.

Then it’s the final bus journey down to Snowdon, hopefully to arrive no later than 1:00pm. This gives us a maximum of 4 hours to complete the challenge in 24 hours.

All sounds good on paper, we just hope the 5 months of training pays off!

So far, those from John Heath Insurance, have raised approximately £4,000 for charity. We are supporting 2 charities, The Wingate Centre (a local charity), and Cancer Research.

It’s not too late to make a donation, all the details are on our 3 peaks challenge page. Thank you to all those who have supported us so far, every penny really does count.
